Emergency Elevator Evacuation Training

Emergency evacuation from a stalled elevator requires specialized skills and knowledge. This course provides the content and practical training as per TSSA curriculum. 8 Hours of training per device type.

This Elevating Devices Mechanic Curriculum Training Standard has been developed in keeping with the Common Format Guidelines prescribed by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) in conjunction with the Elevating Devices Training and Certification Advisory Board (TCAB). The Curriculum Standard reflects the content necessary for a new entrant to the Elevating Device Industry to successfully complete and obtain an Elevating Devices Mechanic-In-Training certificate of qualification (24 hours).

The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) in conjunction with the Elevating Devices Training and Certification Advisory Board (TCAB) has developed the curriculum standard for the 2023-2024 Elevating Device Mechanic Continuing Education cycle, as defined below:

• 6 hours on safe work practices and related topics that may include product-specific safety applications or procedures; the Act, its regulations, applicable code(s), director’s orders/bulletins; and

• 6 hours on technical training related to the elevator industry, which may include cross-discipline training involving curriculum that may have an impact on the elevator trade.

This Elevating Devices Mechanic Curriculum Training Standard has been developed in keeping with the Common Format Guidelines prescribed by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) in conjunction with the Elevating Devices Training and Certification Advisory Board (TCAB). The Curriculum Standard reflects the content necessary for appropriate progression through each level of the Elevating Devices Mechanic Class-D in-school program.

The Curriculum Standard reflects the content necessary for appropriate progression through each level of the Elevating Devices Mechanic Class-F in-school program.
